Check back for info on 2024 Memory Camp

Memory Camp at Moon Beach is an experience for participants with mild to moderate dementia, their care partners and families. Experience the best parts of camp and be part of a community where we leave dementia stigma behind: Sing, sit by the campfire, savor s’mores, work on jigsaw puzzles, ride a pontoon boat, do beach yoga, swim, go fishing and relax on the shore of a gorgeous lake! Hosted by Memory Pioneers Rev. John and Dr. Susan McFadden. Since 2019, Gary Glazner has served as poet-in-residence for Memory Camp.

MOON BEACH is nestled in the Northwoods, between Eagle River and St. Germain on the shores of Moon Lake & Little Saint Germain Lake. Modern cabins overlook Moon Lake amongst the native pine, oak and birch trees. Here you’ll enjoy clear waters, mixed forests with numerous nature trails, and a wide variety of wildlife. Enjoy the peaceful quiet of northern Wisconsin at Moon Beach.

While the virtual Memory Camp event has take place, you are invited to participate in the Memory Camp Found Art Project.

A big part of virtual Memory Camp is reconnecting with the campers. We have been doing support and care calls.

Click Here for “best practices,” tips and info.

Created by Fabu Carter, Past Madison Poet Laureate and Outreach Specialist for Wisconsin Dementia Research.

It takes place at Moon Beach in St. Germain, Wisconsin. Memory Camp is organized by John and Susan McFadden. The Managing Directors are Phoebe Spier and Eric Olsen, United Church Camps, Outdoor Ministry. Sophia Svetnicka is the designer and Outreach Director.

This year, as we are not able to meet in person, for what would have been the 3rd year, we are organizing a Memory Camp event to take place on-line, Saturday, September 12th, time TBA.
The event will be a mix of live Zoom and pre-recorded videos and images.

How can I participate in the Found Art Project? Great question!

You are encouraged to create your own found art sculpture.
Info on how to do that are included in the free invitation link at the top of this page.

We ask that once you create your artwork you take two photographs.

One of just the art work. A second photograph of the artwork with you the artist/s included.

Please email the photographs to Gary Glazner, Memory Camp, Poet-in-Residence at: garyglaznerpoet@gmail.com

Your artwork will be included in the Memory Camp Found Art Archive which will be hosted on this page. Check back for details.
